Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Zaira Martinez, I’m 14 years old, born on January 8, 2011, and from María Teresa in the province of Santa Fe, in Argentina.What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and am learning English.At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 5 years old, and I’ve been playing for 9 years.Are there other tennis players in your family?
For the moment, I am the first tennis player in my family.In which club do you train tennis?
Studebaker Club in Villa Cañas.Who is your tennis coach?
My tennis coach is Ezequiel Aquino, and my gym and physical trainer is Esteban Algarbe.What is your weekly training routine?
- Monday: I get up at 6:40 a.m. to train at 8:00 a.m., since I have to travel. My training ends at 10:30 a.m. I get home, shower, and go to school. I start at 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. I come home, have a snack, and then go to the gym from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: I go to PE in the morning and to school in the afternoon. I leave, have a snack, and go back to the gym.
- Wednesday: I go to school like every day. I go out, and on the way to training, I have a snack in the car, since I train at 7:00 p.m. and leave school at 6:00 p.m.
- Thursday: I do the exact same routine as Monday.
- Friday: I repeat Wednesday’s.
- Saturday and Sunday: I rest.
As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
I’m naturally good at playing and learning things. I should improve my physical fitness, which is important.What is your junior tennis category and your national tennis ranking?
I’m under-14, number 7 in the country.What are your best tennis results?
I have been called up for a South American Championship in Ecuador in 2023, where I met incredible people, especially one!In which countries have you already participated in tennis tournaments?
I left the country only once to represent Argentina in Ecuador, and I’ll soon be traveling to the US.Do you have any sponsors?
I don’t have a contract with a brand, but I do have people who help me compete.What is your goal for 2026?
I want to see my potential in tournaments like the ITF.What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to be a professional tennis player.Who are your favorite tennis players?
My idol, teacher, and perfection is Roger Federer, and currently, Carlos Alcaraz.What do you like to do outside of tennis?
