🎙️ Victor Sazeides | Interview, March 2026
Hello, introduce yourself please.
Hi! My name is Victor Sazeides. I am 13 years old, I was born on July 9, 2012, and I am 1.78 m tall. I am Cypriot and I live in Limassol. Tennis has been a big part of my life since I was very young, and I feel lucky to do what I love every day. I enjoy the challenge, the competition, and the feeling of improving a little bit every time I step on the court.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Greek, Russian, and English. Speaking English is very useful because I travel to tournaments and meet players from all over the world.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 3 years old. At first, it was just something fun, like playing games with a racket and ball, but I quickly realized that I really loved the sport. From that moment, I knew I wanted to keep learning and get better every day.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only tennis player in my family. But my parents have always supported me. They come to my matches, help me practice, and encourage me to work hard even when it gets difficult. Sometimes it is challenging to balance school, training, and tournaments, but their support makes a huge difference and keeps me motivated.
In which club do you train?
I have been training at the Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy for the past 2.5 years. The coaches and facilities are amazing, and it is a very positive environment.
Who are your coaches?
My tennis coaches are Petros Baghdatis and Costa Ivanov. They help me with my technique, footwork, match strategy, and mental focus. I also work with fitness coaches Tefkros Diamantes and Giannos Lazarou, who help me improve my speed, strength, and endurance.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 4 to 5 times a week on the court. My weekly routine includes around 10 hours of tennis and 4 hours of fitness. Each session focuses on different aspects of my game such as technique, movement, match play, and tactics. In addition to tennis, I do fitness training three times a week to improve my strength, speed, and endurance.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
I think my greatest strengths are my speed, body shape, and determination. I always try to stay positive and keep fighting, even in tough matches, which is not always easy at my age.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U14 category, and I am currently ranked No.11 in Cyprus. I am proud of my ranking, but I know I can always improve and climb higher with hard work and dedication.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my proudest moments have been reaching the finals in national competitions. I also remember a tournament where I had to play against older players and managed to reach the semifinals. It was tough, but it taught me a lot about focus and determination. Every success, big or small, motivates me to keep improving.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in tournaments in Cyprus, Greece, and the Netherlands. I enjoy learning from each match, seeing different styles of play, and experiencing how other tennis programs work.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet, but I hope to get my first sponsorship soon. I have started sharing my journey on Instagram and I train consistently, so I am ready for the opportunity to represent a brand in the future. Being sponsored would be amazing and would help me focus even more on improving my game.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to become a player for the Cyprus national team and also become a top ITF player.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player and compete in major international tournaments like the Grand Slams. I want to represent Cyprus and see how far I can go. Tennis is my passion, and I hope one day to inspire younger players the way professional players inspire me.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Roger Federer because he is so fast, powerful, and never gives up. Watching him play motivates me to work harder and stay positive even in difficult matches. I want to learn from his energy and fighting spirit.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy fishing, walking in the mountains, cooking, taking care of my animals, playing video games, spending time with my friends, and going to the beach. I think it is important to have fun and relax sometimes so I can come back to training motivated and ready to improve.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I want to dedicate this interview to my parents and my coaches. They have always supported me, helped me improve, and encouraged me to follow my dreams. Without them, I would not be where I am today, and I am really grateful for everything they do.
