Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Sofia Mendes, I am 12 years old, born in 2013.
I am Portuguese and I live in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.What languages do you speak?
Portuguese, and I am learning English.At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 7.Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the first one in my family to play tennis.In which club do you train?
I train at Felner Tennis Academy and I also belong to the Clube de Ténis de Caldas da Rainha.Who are your coaches?
At Felner Academy, my coaches are Tomás Sedas and Filipe Rebelo.What is your weekly training routine?
I usually train 2 hours a day, 5 times per week. Once a week, I train in Leiria at the National Development Center, a program of the Portuguese Tennis Federation.What is your best shot and things you need to improve?
My best shot is the forehand.
I want to keep improving my serve and my consistency during matches.What is your junior category and your national ranking?
I am in my last year of Under-12 and currently ranked #18 in Portugal. I have also started competing in the Under-14 category (#77).What are your best results?
- Regional U12 Champion 2025 (singles, girls doubles and mixed doubles)
- Regional U12 Team Champion 2024 and 2025
- Main Draw presence at the U12 National Championships (singles and teams)
- First participation in a Tennis Europe tournament in 2025
