Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Šimon Janoušek, I’m 14 years old and I come from the Czech Republic.
I live in Klatovy, near Plzeň, in the Czech Republic. I was born on March 16, 2011, in my hometown Klatovy, Czech Republic. At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was about 4 years old.Are there other tennis players in your family?
I was introduced to tennis by my parents, especially my dad, because my older brother was already playing.
My family guided me to this sport, and I really liked it. I found it elegant and beautiful. What is your club?
My tennis club is Tenis club Prostějov, there playing Jiří Lehecka and Jakub Menšík.Who is your coach?
I train with my dad, who is also my coach. He’s a very good coach and the training is tough and intense. I always give my best. How many hours a week do you train tennis and do physical training?
I play almost every day. It depends on how I feel and the schedule, but usually it’s one hour in the morning and another in the afternoon, sometimes more – like 1.5 or 2 hours. It really depends, but I train a lot.Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I do have some sponsors, but I’m definitely open to more support in the future.
Tennis is a financially demanding sport. What racket do you play with?
I play with the newest Wilson Blade. What are your best results so far and your national ranking?
My biggest achievement so far was winning 1st place at a Tennis Europe international tournament in Lithuania in January 2024. That was my first international title.
I also won doubles in Latvia and made some deep runs in strong tournaments, including semifinals.
Recently, I won another Tennis Europe Category 2 tournament in Kaunas, Lithuania, during the summer.
I’m also proud of some doubles titles and consistent results. In which countries have you ever been to play tennis?
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest dream is to win Wimbledon. I want to be in the top 10 in the world and play all the Grand Slams. Of course, I’d love to win every Grand Slam, but Wimbledon is the most special to me.Who are your favorite male and female tennis players?
My favorite player was always Roger Federer. Now that he retired, I really like Jannik Sinner. My favorite female player is Aryna Sabalenka.
I watch a lot of tennis at TV. I learn so much – both mentally and technically. I like to observe how players handle pressure, their mindset, and also their techniques. Thanks a lot Simon!
