Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Rafael Pena Aguirre. I am 13 years old. I was born on February 23, 2013, in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
I am the only one in my family who plays tennis.
In which club do you train?
I train at Asociación de tenis del guayas.
Who are the members of your team?
My team is made up of Fabrizzio Solís, Xavier Solís, Henrry Borja, Antonio colmenares, Giovanny Depiaggio, and the academy director Álvaro López.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 2 hours of tennis and 1 hour of fitness, 6 days a week.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what would you like to improve?
I think my biggest strength is that I never give up on any ball and my mindset. I believe I need to improve my crosscourt backhand.
What is your age category and your ranking?
This is my first year in U14, and I am currently No. 3 in the national ranking.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my biggest achievements was representing Ecuador in a South American tournament and finishing 5th. After that, we qualified for the Mundialito in Peru, where we reached the final and lost against Chinese Taipei.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Paraguay.
Do you have any sponsors?
Currently, I do not have any sponsors.
What is your goal for this year?
My goal for 2026 is to qualify for the U14 South American Championship and qualify for Wimbledon, as I will go to Brazil to play a qualifying tournament for Wimbledon.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream in tennis is to win Wimbledon and be an example for the next generations.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Roger Federer because I admire his elegance.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
I like spending time with my family.
