🎙️ Polina Berezina | Interview, March 2026

Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Polina Berezina. I am 17 years old. I was born on March 1, 2009. I am Russian and I am from Moscow.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Russian.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
There are no professional tennis players in my family, but my whole family loves tennis very much.
In which club do you train?
I train at Rafa Nadal Academy.
What is your coaching team?
At Rafa Nadal Academy, I have a tennis coach, a fitness coach, a nutritionist, a psychologist, and everything I need for my career. When I train in Moscow, I have a fitness coach with whom I have been working for 3 years.
What is your weekly training routine?
I usually train 6 times a week. I have two tennis sessions a day and then fitness, and on the weekend I have a massage.
What is your greatest strength as a player?
My greatest strength as a player is my mind and the support of my team, which always helps and believes in me.
What is your category and ranking?
Now I am playing ITF junior, and I am also starting to play WTA events like 15K. I do not know exactly my ranking, but among my year I am 2 or 3.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
I was the winner of the Russian Championship 3 times, and this year I became Top 50 in the ITF. This year I went to the Junior Grand Slam in Australia, but unfortunately I could not play because of my health. I was a little girl and dreamed of playing a junior Grand Slam, and if you told her that in 12 years she would have a chance to play one, she would have laughed and hoped. Always believe in yourself, believe that you can, believe and everything is possible.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have played tournaments in many countries.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I have a sponsor Wilson and I have a contract with the agency EDGE.
What are your goals for 2026?
My goals for 2026 are to continue to grind, continue to push myself, stay positive. We train for the moments that await us at tournaments, and you are not always a winner. Sometimes there are sad losses, injuries, and unrealized moments, but the main thing is to continue to believe in yourself.
What is your tennis dream?
Definitely, my goal in tennis is to become No.1 in the world and stay happy playing my favorite sport.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Aryna Sabalenka. I really like her character. She is different from others, and I like it.
