Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Oleksandr “Sasha” Yashyn. I am 16 years old and I was born on June 16, 2009. I am Ukrainian and I currently live in Toronto, Canada.
What languages do you speak?
I speak English, Ukrainian, and Russian.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was around 10 years old. From the very beginning I really enjoyed the competition and the challenge of improving every day.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
No, I am the only tennis player in my family, but they have always supported me and encouraged me to keep working toward my goals.
In which club do you train?
I train at Old Mill Tennis Club in Toronto.
Who are your coaches?
At the moment I do not have a coach. I train independently both on the court and off the court, including working out in the gym to improve my strength and conditioning.
What is your weekly training routine?
During the week I spend many hours on court working on drills, point play, and match situations. I also train in the gym to improve my strength, speed, and overall fitness.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my court coverage and my backhand. I also have a strong competitive mindset and good consistency during rallies. Right now I am focusing on improving my forehand and my serve.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U18 category in Canada and my current national ranking is No.517.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
Some of my biggest achievements include strong results in junior tournaments and continuing to improve my ranking while competing against strong players. I am especially proud that I have achieved these results while training mostly on my own without a coach.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far I have mainly competed in tournaments in Canada, and I hope to play more international tournaments in the future.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, I do not have any sponsors at the moment.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to reach the top 50 in the U18 category in Ontario and achieve a UTR of 8.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player and reach World No.1.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would most like to meet Novak Djokovic because of his discipline, mental strength, and dedication to the sport.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis I enjoy fitness training, creating content for social media, and learning about business and entrepreneurship.
