Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Maria Eugenia Galan. I am 16 years old and I was born on January 12, 2010 in Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina, where I currently live.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 6 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
After I started playing tennis, my parents and my brother also began practicing the sport as a hobby.
In which club do you train?
I currently train at Tenis Club Sarmiento.
Who are your coaches?
My team includes my tennis coach Ignacio Gonzales King, who leads the academy where I train, Antonio Sheman who is also my fitness coach, and Cain Orban.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train from Monday to Friday about four hours per day, with two to two and a half hours of tennis and the rest dedicated to physical training.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my competitive attitude and my forehand. Like many young players, I continue working to improve different aspects of my game, especially my mentality.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U16 category and I am currently ranked No.8 in Argentina.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievements so far include entering the top 10 in Argentina, playing my first ITF tournaments last December and reaching the quarterfinals in both events. In doubles, I also became a national champion and COSAT champion.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in Argentina and Paraguay.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, but I would love to be sponsored by Wilson.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal this year is to qualify for the South American team championship.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream in tennis is to win Indian Wells and the US Open.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Novak Djokovic because of his great persistence and mental strength.
What do you enjoy outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my grandparents, because I love spending time with them when I am home, and of course to my parents who make a great effort to support me in every trip and training session.
