🎙️Marcos Ibáñez Forte | Interview, October 2025
Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Marcos Ibáñez Forte, I’m 11 years old. I’m in my first year in the under-12 category. I still have the whole of 2026 left. I was born on February 2, 2014. I’m from Yecla (Spain), a city in the Murcia region, where one of my favorite players, Carlos Alcaraz, is from. What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and a little English. At what age did you start playing tennis?
I’ve always been involved with this sport since I was very young, as my parents also played. At 4 years old, I was already hitting the ball with my mother. Are there other tennis players in your family?
My cousin also played tennis like me and my parents played at an amateur level.Which club do you train at?
I train very close to home, at the Next Racket school, at the Yecla Tennis Club.Who are your coaches?
I have several, but my main coach is Ángel Alonso. What is your weekly training routine?
I train four days a week, both tennis and physical training. I also train soccer on another day.As an athlete, what is your greatest strength and what do you need to improve?
I like to be aggressive, drive a lot to the net, finishing with a volley, and hit drop shots from any position on the court. I need to improve my backhand, and I’m slowly getting there. What is your junior age group and national ranking?
I’m in the under-12 category — since 2014, I’ve been in the top 10.What has been your greatest success?
This year, I qualified for the Spanish national championship. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience. I’d love to return next year. I hope to achieve that.In which countries have you already played in tournaments?
I haven’t left Spain, although it’s in my short-term plans.Do you have sponsors?
Unfortunately, no. I hope to find them soon, as any help in this sport is necessary. Any contribution is appreciated, whether it’s sports equipment, scholarships, etc. This year I received a scholarship from my city’s city council. And all tournament expenses, travel, and equipment are covered by my parents. What is your goal for 2026?
I have several. The first is to qualify for the Spanish Championship again. I have others like winning a tournament on the Rafa Nadal Tour, Warriors, or even a Tennis Europe title. What is your tennis dream?
I would love to dedicate myself professionally to this sport and win Wimbledon, although if it’s another Grand Slam, that’s fine, haha.Who are your favorite tennis players?
My favorite player is Novak Djokovic. He’s a machine. But I also love my countryman Carlos Alcaraz and, of course, Rafa Nadal. What do you like to do besides tennis?
I like to play soccer; I also play on a team in my city. I like ping-pong and chess.Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I dedicate it to my family, to my parents for everything they’re doing for me and their unconditional support. And to my brother. He plays soccer but always tries to join me at tournaments. I love you all very much. Thanks a lot Marcos!
