🎙️Lewis Bego | Interview, November 2025

Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Lewis Bego, I am 11 years old — I was born on August 13, 2014.
I was born in Switzerland, but my mum is British and my dad is Venezuelan.
I live in Wollerau, Canton Schwyz, Switzerland.

What languages do you speak?
I speak English & German. I can understand basic Spanish due to my dad being Venezuelan and im currently learning French at school.

At what age did you start playing tennis?
My first tennis lesson was when I turned 6 years old. I started to take tennis a bit more seriously and train consistently at the age of 8.

Are there other tennis players in your family?
My dad played a lot of tennis and is a huge tennis fan. He also loves to coach me and give me tennis tips 😊

In which club do you train tennis?
Since September 2025 I am lucky enough to have joined the school & tennis program full time at Patrick Mouratoglou Academy in France, therefore I am currently living now Mougins, France. Before moving to Mouratoglou, I was training in 2 Swiss clubs: Tennis Zentrum Horgen and Sportschüle Dürten.

Who is your tennis coach?
My current tennis coach at Patrick Mouratoglou Academy is Jordan Dumas. Amazing coach! He is super dedicated and gives me all the support I need on court. I also have a dedicated fitness coach, Esteban, whom is helping me to develop my physic.

What is your weekly training routine?
From Monday to Friday daily: 2 to 2.5 hours of Tennis Training plus 1.5 hours of Fitness Training.
Weekends we have tournaments and if not, then we try to organize match trainings with the other players from the Academy.

As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
I think my best quality is that on the court I will not give up no matter what the situation is.
I need to work on my physicality. On the court I can lose balance especially when I’m running from the net back to the base line.

What is your junior tennis category and your national tennis ranking?
I play U12 tournaments and my current ranking in Switzerland is R6 and in France is 30/3.

What has been your greatest achievement?
I have recently learned how to stand up for myself in a match if my opponent is calling wrong balls. I felt proud of myself in a recent match (super tie-break) when I called the ref – this is normally something I would not have felt comfortable to do. I work hard for my points and I wont give them away.

In which countries have you already participated in tennis tournaments?
Switzerland, France & Spain.

Do you have any sponsors?
Not at the moment, hopefully soon my tennis can attract some sponsors 😊 — I would love to be able to represent a brand.

What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to improve my French ranking and to be more physical on the court.

What is your tennis dream?
Would love to get a Division 1 scholarship to study and play tennis at the Florida Gators.
My ultimate tennis dream is to become the youngest professional tennis player and to be number 1 in the world.

Who are your favorite tennis players?
Ben Shelton because he never gives up and his serve is incredible and Roger Federer – I love how he played his one handed backhand and how he moved around the court.

What do you like to do outside of tennis?
I like to meet up with friends, I like to watch other sports including Ice Hockey. I also enjoy fishing and playing with my dog.

To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?
My parents, my coaches in Switzerland and Jordan Dumas (my coach at the academy).

Thanks a lot Lewis!
Tennis Papers wishes you the best in your tennis life 💜🩷
