🎙️ Leisan Iliasova | Interview, March 2026

Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Leisan Iliasova and I am 13 years old. I was born on October 25, 2012, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Tennis has become a very important part of my life, and now I am on the court almost every day.
What languages do you speak?
I speak three languages: my native Kyrgyz, and I am also fluent in Russian and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, I have an older sister, Leyla, and a younger brother, Arslan, and they both play tennis too.
In which club do you train?
I do not train at one particular tennis club. We usually rent courts for my training.
Who are your coaches?
My team is made up of my coach, Farhad Rustamovich, and my dad, Ilyas. They are always there for me and help me improve.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train six days a week. My routine includes two hours on court and two hours in the gym for general conditioning. Friday is always game day for me, and I usually spend three to four hours on court sparring.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My strongest shots are my forehand and backhand. I still need to improve my serve because it sometimes lets me down, so I am working hard on it.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U14 category and I am currently ranked No.2 in Kyrgyzstan. I am also a member of the Kyrgyzstan national team.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my most important experiences so far was representing the Kyrgyzstan national team at the team tournament in Vietnam.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
In recent years, I have competed in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, I do not have any sponsors yet.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to improve my UTR, maintain my Tennis Europe ranking, travel to as many countries as possible to play tournaments, and secure my place on the national team.
What is your tennis dream?
My biggest dream is to win Grand Slams and one day open my own tennis academy to help other kids love the sport as much as I do.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
The player I would most like to meet is Aryna Sabalenka. I love the way she plays: powerful, confident, and fearless.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
When I am not playing tennis, I love hiking in the mountains. I also enjoy drawing and reading, especially adventure stories.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?
I am dedicating this interview to myself, because I know that everything depends on me, and I will continue to play, learn, and grow.
