Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Jose Elian Cevallos Ley. I am 9 years old and I was born on May 27, 2016. I am Ecuadorian and I live in Daule. I am a junior tennis player competing in the U10 category.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Spanish and I am learning English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 3 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my brother Gael also plays tennis.
In which club do you train?
I train at Academia Protenis.
Who are your coaches?
My coaching team includes Maria de Jesus Garcia, Juan Diego Ordonez, and Meri.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train from Monday to Friday, with 2 hours of tennis and 1 hour of physical training each day.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my forehand and my serve. I need to improve my mental strength and make my forehand even stronger.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U10 category and I am currently ranked No.5 nationally in Ecuador. In 2026, I also started playing in the U12 category, where I am currently ranked No.55.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
In 2026, I won the first U10 National Championship in doubles and finished runner-up in doubles at the second U10 National Championship. I was also a singles semifinalist in both tournaments. I have also won the Ecua Junior tournament twice in the U10 singles category.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have only played tournaments in Ecuador.
Do you have any sponsors?
No, not yet, but I would like to have sponsors in the future.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to finish among the Top 3 in the U10 ranking and win the U10 Masters. In the U12 category, my goal is to finish among the Top 16 in the ranking.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to earn a university scholarship in the USA and combine that with a professional tennis career.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Novak Djokovic because I think he is the greatest player in history and I admire his level of play.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy going to the beach and playing football.
