Hello, introduce yourself please.

Hello! My name is Iulia Maria Buculei. I’m 17 years old, I was born on August 19, 2008.
I’m Romanian and living in Bucharest, Romania.

What languages do you speak?

I speak english and romanian.

At what age did you start playing tennis?

I started playing tennis at 6 years old.

Are there other tennis players in your family?

No, I’m the only tennis player in my family.

In which club do you train?

I train at National Tennis Center in Bucharest and at Steaua Tennis Club.

Who are your coaches?

My coaches are Alexandru Joitoiu, Raluca Joitoiu (tennis) and Dan Cristea (fitness).

What is your weekly training routine?

I’m practicing everyday 3 hours tennis and 1-2h of fitness.

What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?

My greatest strength is probably my backhand down the line. I probably need to improve my serve.

What is your age category and your national ranking?

I’m number 3 at U18 in Romania and top 100 ITF Juniors.

What have been your greatest successes so far?

I won 3 J100 tournaments and made 1 semi-final at a J200. Also I made a quarter final at a 15K.

In which countries have you played tournaments?

I’ve played in all the countries in Europe and this year I’ll play in America also.

Do you have any sponsors?

I’m sponsored by Yonex. They give me rackets, strings and tennis bags.

What is your goal for 2026?

My goal for 2026 is to break into the ITF Juniors top 50 and the WTA top 800 in singles.

What is your tennis dream?

My dream in tennis is to be among the top 50 WTA players in singles and to play in all the Grand Slam in the main draw.

Who are your favorite tennis players?

I loved watching Simona Halep play, but my favorite tennis player is Caroline Wozniacki.

What do you enjoy outside of tennis?

I love studying, shopping with my mom and going at escape rooms with my friends.
