🎙️Gustavo Oliveira | Interview, Aug 2025
Hello, introduce yourself please.
I’m Gustavo Oliveira and I was born in Niterói (Brazil) on May 13, 2013.
I’m Taurus with a strong personality, passionate about tennis since I’m a child.
Cheerful, kind, and persistent, I charm everyone with my determined and captivating demeanor. At what age did you start playing tennis?
I grew up watching my entire family involved in tennis. The court has always been my playground—my favorite place in the world!
Since I’m 6, I has participated in social tennis lessons. But it was in 2023, while watching a Brazilian tournament at home—with a house full of young athletes—that a strong desire to take the sport seriously was awakened.
Since then, I have trained daily with the competition team, and from that first day, my love for tennis has only grown. Are there other tennis players in your family?
My sister Lara Alaina also plays tennis in the G12U category. What is your club?
I train at Total Tennis Team in Niterói, RJ.Who is your coach?
My coach is Ricardo Pontes. How many hours a week do you train tennis and do physical training?
20 hours of weekly trainingDo you have any sponsors?
No.What racket do you play with?
Wilson Pro Staff V14What are your junior category, your national ranking and your best results?
My national ranking is 25th.
Today, at just 12 years old, I’ have’ve already participated in several state and national tournaments.
I’ have’ve won 2 championship titles and I’ve been runner-up on four other occasions.
The most memorable moment so far was at this year’s Brazilian Championship, hosted by Total Tennis, where I won the championship playing at home.In which countries have you ever been to play tennis?
BrazilWhat is your tennis dream?
My goal is to become a better person and athlete every day.
I want to connect with myself, value my achievements, and move forward with joy and purpose, always striving for the best version of myself.
Because it’s an individual sport, I faced many challenges—I even considered giving up. But I kept going, and today I have even more strength to continue!
Tennis is more than a sport for me; it’s a passion that challenges me to push my limits every day. It teaches me discipline, persistence, and focus, in addition to providing me with moments of joy, learning, and personal growth.
Before championship games, I like to listen to Matuê songs — they help me get in the mood!
A funny story is that once I went to compete in another city and forgot my sneakers at home. Since then, I only go out to tournaments after checking that I have at least two pairs in my bag! 😂Who are your favorite male and female tennis players?
My tennis idols are Guga, Alcaraz, and Nadal. Thanks a lot Gustavo!
