Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Gia Alana Pereira. I’m 20 years old — born on the 4th of July 2005.
I am Indian. I live in the lovely city of Mumbai.What languages do you speak?
I speak English, I can also speak a bit of Marathi, Hindi, Spanish and French.At what age did you start playing tennis?
I’ve been playing tennis for almost 15 years. I started at around 5 years old.Are there other tennis players in your family?
We have a history of athletes in my family however none plays tennis.In which club do you train tennis?
I train at Vazirani National Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.Who is your tennis coach?
My tennis coach is Jaideep Vazirani.What is your weekly training routine?
I go to the Gym every morning for an hour and a half.
Followed by practice in the afternoon for 2 hrs, with recovery on the weekends.As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
I feel my greatest quality is my strong technique.
Something I need to improve on would be my foot work and agility which I’ve been working on this last year.What is your junior category and your national ranking?
I am not a junior anymore. My junior season ended 2 years ago with an AITA rank of 34.
I am currently competing in the Women’s category. My highest rank has been 55.What has been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement honestly is being able to continue doing something that I love.In which countries have you already played tournament?
I’ve not yet travelled internationally for tournaments however I’ve played in many different cities in India.Do you have any sponsors?
I don’t have any sponsors.What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to get as much playing experience as possible to become stronger physically and mentally.What is your tennis dream?
My dream has always been and always will be to play Grand Slams. And to be in the top 5 in WTA.Who are your favorite tennis players?
My favourite tennis player has always been Roger Federer. He’s been my idol for the longest time. He is role model both on and off the court.What do you like to do outside of tennis?
I have multiple hobbies, I’m a Junior Certified PADI scuba diver, I love to travel, paint, crochet, skate, swim, I sing …in the shower mostly but also in my Church Choir “The Eagle Wings”… The list goes on, I have never known boredom.To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?
To my family and other young athletes with big ambitions.
