Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Elizaveta Astafjeva. I was born on July 12, 2010, in Tallinn, Estonia, where I am originally from. I am a junior tennis player competing on the ITF junior circuit in the U18 category.
What languages do you speak?
Russian is my native language. I also speak English and I am currently learning French.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 7. Before that, I was involved in gymnastics.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my younger sister also plays tennis.
In which club do you train?
I previously trained at a tennis academy, but now I work with private coaches and train in different clubs depending on my schedule and opportunities.
Who is your coaching team?
My team includes a tennis coach, two fitness coaches, a physiotherapist, and a massage therapist.
What is your weekly training routine?
My routine includes around four hours of on-court training per day, along with one to one and a half hours of fitness work. I also focus on recovery through stretching and regular massage.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my discipline and mental resilience. I am very focused and committed to my development. I am currently working on improving my physical stability and overall balance on court.
What is your age category and your ranking?
I compete in ITF tournaments in the U18 category, and my current ITF ranking is 446.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my most memorable achievements was winning a final in Reunion under very difficult conditions, including intense heat and rain. Despite falling twice on clay, I stayed focused and won the match in straight sets.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in Estonia, France, Spain, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan.
Do you have any sponsors?
At the moment, I do not have any sponsors.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to break into the Top 100 of the ITF rankings.
What is your tennis dream?
My ultimate dream is to become World No. 1 in the WTA rankings. It is a goal I am fully committed to achieving.
Who are your favorite players?
My favorite players are Aryna Sabalenka, Serena Williams, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy art, especially drawing, and spending time with my friends.
