Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Ece Unay. I am 9 years old and I was born on December 15, 2016, in Istanbul, Turkey, where I currently live. I am a junior tennis player competing in the U10 category.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Turkish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 6.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my father has been playing tennis for the past five years. He inspired me to start tennis.
In which club do you train?
I train at TED Tennis Club.
Who are your coaches?
My coaches are Kadir Acikalin and Huseyin Nas.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train six days a week, combining on-court practice with additional conditioning sessions. I work regularly on technique, footwork, and match play.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strengths are my forehand and my mental strength. I stay focused during matches and fight for every point. I want to improve my serve and become faster on court.
What is your age category and your national ranking?
I compete in the U10 category. There is currently no official national ranking in this age category.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
My biggest achievement so far was becoming the champion of the Turkey Summer Cup in 2025. I have also won many weekend tournaments, which helped me gain valuable match experience.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have competed in tournaments in Turkey, and I am preparing to compete internationally in the future.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet, but I believe that with hard work and future achievements, sponsors will come.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to compete in more national tournaments, gain international experience, and continue improving my overall game.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player and compete in the biggest tournaments, including the Grand Slams.
Which players would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Zeynep Sonmez because she is an inspiring Turkish tennis player who is mentally very strong and plays with great discipline. I would also like to meet Emma Raducanu because I really like her technique.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I attend piano lessons and love playing the piano. I also enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my dog.
