Hello, introduce yourself please.
Hi, my name is Carmen Azar. I am 15 years old and I will turn 16 on September 9. I am Lebanese and I live in Rabieh, near Beirut. I am a junior tennis player competing on the international circuit.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was just 3 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, tennis runs in my family. My older brother has a scholarship at Johns Hopkins University in the USA, my younger brother plays and wins local tournaments in Lebanon, and many members of my family including my parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles also play tennis.
In which club do you train?
I do not belong to a specific club. I train in Beirut with my coach and sometimes at academies such as Bidan Academy and NJK Tennis Academy.
Who is your coach?
I have been training with my coach Feras Dabous for the past 7 years.
What is your weekly training routine?
I practice every day for about 2 to 3 hours.
Do you have any sponsors?
Yes, I am proud to be sponsored by Babolat.
What racket do you play with?
I play with a Babolat Pure Drive racket.
What is your category, ranking, and best results?
My current ITF ranking is 2512. Most of my best performances have been in Lebanon, where I have been ranked No.1 in my age group since I was 10 years old.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
I have competed in many countries including Cyprus, England, Belgium, Jordan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Spain, Turkey, Egypt, France, and Sri Lanka.
What is your tennis dream?
For me, tennis is a beautiful sport that I truly love. I believe success comes from both physical strength and mental resilience. My main goal is to attend a strong university in the USA and compete on a college tennis team.
Who is your favorite tennis player?
My favorite tennis player has always been Rafael Nadal.
