Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Arya Demirelli. I am 9 years old, born on June 6, 2016, and I am from Istanbul, Turkiye. I am a junior tennis player competing in the 10 & Under category.
What languages do you speak?
I speak Turkish and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was about 6 years old.
Are there other tennis players in your family?
Yes, my older sister plays as well—she’s two years older than me—and my father has been playing for about four years. Tennis has really become something we enjoy together as a family.
In which club do you train?
I train at TED Istanbul.
Who are your coaches?
I train with my coaches Kadir Acikalin and Huseyin Nas, who help me improve my technique, movement, and match play.
What is your weekly training routine?
I train 6 days a week, for around 15 hours, focusing on technical drills, footwork, and match play. I also do fitness and coordination training to improve my speed, balance, and endurance.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?
My biggest strength is my foot speed and court movement. I can reach many balls and stay in long rallies. I am currently working on becoming stronger and improving my consistency and tactical decisions during matches.
What is your age category and your ranking?
I compete in the 10 & Under category in Turkiye. There is no official ranking at this age.
What have been your greatest successes so far?
One of my biggest achievements so far was becoming the champion at the Turkiye Winter Cup in 2026.
In which countries have you played tournaments?
So far, I have mainly played tournaments in Turkiye, but I hope to start competing internationally in the near future.
Do you have any sponsors?
Not yet, but I hope to have sponsors in the future who believe in my potential and support my journey.
What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to play more tournaments, gain international experience, and continue improving my game.
What is your tennis dream?
My dream is to become a professional tennis player and play on the biggest courts in the world. I especially dream of playing at Roland Garros because I love clay courts. I also want to be known as a player who never gives up and fights for every point.
Which player would you most like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Carlos Alcaraz because I really like his energy, speed, and creative style of play. In women’s tennis, I also admire Elena Rybakina for her calm and elegant playing style.
What do you enjoy doing outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing the piano, and trying different sports.
