🎙️Amaliya Pismennyi | Interview, November 2025
Hello, introduce yourself please.
My name is Amaliya Pismennyi, I’m 12 years old — born on August 25, 2013.
I’m Russian-Israeli living in Rishon LeZion, Israel. What languages do you speak?
I speak Russian and Hebrew as native languages and a little bit of English. At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis just a little bit more than a year ago when I was almost 11.Are there other tennis players in your family?
My mom and my dad are also playing tennis, as well as my two younger sisters. In which club do you train tennis?
I’m training in Tennis Academy Kfar Maccabia in Ramat Gan.Who is your tennis coach?
My coach is Aleksandr Rabukhin. What is your weekly training routine?
I practice 6 days a week in group for 2 hours each training, fitness 1 hour 6 days a week and private training of 1,5 hours 3 to 4 times a week.As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
My best sides, as I can see it, is being determined and a hard worker, I like pushing my self to the limits and go further, I’m working on my mental strength as well. Though I study pretty well, I would rather spend some extra hours on court instead of school… so I would say you can take it as my weak side. What is your junior tennis category and your national tennis ranking?
My current national ranking in category U12 is #18.What has been your greatest achievement?
I am doing sports from the age of 4 and have been a professional athlete from the age of 5, being 4 times #1 nationally in rhythmic gymnastics. But I switched to being a tennis player only at the age of 11. That’s why I have only been playing national tournaments for half a year. But within this period I won two minor local tournaments and reached 1/8 finals at the national championship, having beaten some of the top 10 players of national U12 category. I have moved up from being without any ranking this spring to position #18 (currently) in category U12. I’m planning to reach top 15 of U12 nationally by the end of the year.In which countries have you already participated in tennis tournaments?
As I’ve started not so long ago, I haven’t played any tournaments abroad by far. But we have plans for the coming 2026.Do you have any sponsors?
I don’t have sponsors yet. What is your goal for 2026?
My goal in 2026 is to be in top 10 nationally U14 and to win a European Tournament. What is your tennis dream?
When I become Pro I’m planning to win Roland-Garros and to play mixed doubles with Carlos.Who are your favorite tennis players?
Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz are my favourites, but I admire the game of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic — they are just incredible and I love watching them play! What do you like to do outside of tennis?
When I have some free time I enjoy drawing, reading and cooking sushi. To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?
To my coach Sasha and my parents. Thanks a lot Amaliya!
