Hello, introduce yourself please.I’m Aiym Kanagatova, I’m 13 years old, I was born on May 7, 2012.
I was born and live in Kazakhstan, in the city of Taldykorgan.What languages do you speak?I speak Russian, Kazakh, and English.
At what age did you start playing tennis?I first played tennis at age 6.
Are there other tennis players in your family?No, I’m the first tennis player in my family.
In which club do you train?I train at the Zhetysu club, which is located in the city of Taldykorgan.
Who are your coaches?My coaching team consists of a tennis coach, a sparring partner, and a physical training coach. My head tennis coach is Samandar Kutratovich Abdimalikov.
What is your weekly training routine?I train twice a day, Monday through Saturday.
What is your greatest strength as a player, and what do you need to improve?I consider my strengths to be my consistency, endurance, and variety in my game. I’d like to improve my mental state and further refine my footwork.
What is your age category and your national ranking?I participate in under-14 tournaments and ITF tournaments. I am 35th in the national TE (Tennis Europe) under-14 rankings and 1st in Kazakhstan.
What have been your greatest successes so far?I am the number one player on the Kazakhstan national team, a top 40 player in TE 14 years and under, Asian Cup finalist by team, champion of many TE tournaments and qualified for the world championships in my age category.
In which countries have you played tournaments?I’ve played tournaments in America, in many European countries, and in many Asian countries.
Do you have any sponsors?My sponsor is Kainar. I don’t have a tennis sponsor yet, but I’m working toward getting one.
What is your goal for 2026?This year, I want to play as many ITF tournaments as possible, win tournaments in this category, and improve my ITF ranking. I also want to show my best result at the Asian Team Cup and take first place.
What is your tennis dream?My dream is to become the first player from Kazakhstan to win a Grand Slam or the Olympics, despite being born and raised in Kazakhstan.
Who are your favorite tennis players?My favorite tennis players are Elena Rybakina, Rafael Nadal, and Jannik Sinner.
What do you enjoy outside of tennis?Outside of tennis, I enjoy spending time outdoors, walking with friends, reading, and sometimes just relaxing.
Who would you like to dedicate this interview to?I want to dedicate this interview to my entire team and my beloved family. I am so grateful that they are always there for me, supporting me, helping me through all the difficulties, and sharing all the joys with me. I love and appreciate them all very much.
