Moscow is the capital of Russia and its biggest city. It sits on the Moskva River and has more than 12 million people.
The city is famous for the Kremlin (a big old fortress), Red Square, and the colorful St. Basil’s Cathedral. Moscow also has a beautiful subway system where the stations look like “underground palaces.”
In winter it gets very cold and snowy, and in summer it can be warm and sunny. Even though it’s a huge city, Moscow has lots of parks and green spaces where people play and relax.
