Hello, introduce yourself please.

Hi! My name is Yasmin Kolawole and I am 15. I was born on May 16, 2010. I am British and live in Birmingham, UK.

What languages do you speak?

My first language is English but i also know Yoruba from my nigerian heritage. I am currently learning Spanish also.

At what age did you start playing tennis?

I started playing tennis at 4 but I did my first tournament at 11.

Are there other tennis players in your family?

My dad and my brother also play tennis.

In which club do you train?

I train at Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club.

Who are your coaches?

My coach is Chris Johnson.

What is your weekly training routine?

In a normal week, I train 4-5 times per week and work on fitness and flexibility daily at home.

As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?

I think that my greatest quality is my competitive nature and drive to succeed.
However, I need to work more on handling pressure in tight situations.

What is your junior category and your national ranking?

I am currently in the U16 category and I am ranked in the top 600.

What has been your greatest achievement?

My greatest success is coming runner up in a local U16 tournament.

In which countries have you already played tournament?

I have only played tournaments in the UK but hope to play internationally soon.

Do you have any sponsors?

I currently don’t have any sponsors but I hope that will change in the near future

What is your goal for 2026?

My goal for 2026 is to start playing more regularly to improve my ranking. I also want to start winning more matches.

What is your tennis dream?

My dream is to play college tennis in the USA or even push toward the pro circuit. I want to reach the highest level I can, travel the world, and compete against top players.

Who are your favorite tennis players?

My favourite players are Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff. I love Alcaraz’s creativity, all-court explosiveness, and how fearless he is in big moments. And I really admire Gauff’s athleticism, mentality, and how competitive she is. They are massive inspirations.

What do you like to do outside of tennis?

Outside of Tennis, I love to act. I recently acted in a short film. Whilst different to tennis, acting is also so fun and creative, allowing me to express myself like I do on court.

To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?

I would like to dedicate the interview to my dad and my coaches because they have helped me improve so much these past months making next year look very bright.
