🎙️Sarah Melany Fajmonova | Interview, November 2025

Hello, introduce yourself please.
Hi, my name is Sarah Melany Fajmonová. I’m 18 years old, born on March 9, 2007.
I’m from Prague, Czech Republic.

What languages do you speak?
I speak English and Czech.

At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old, and I began playing professionally at 12.

Are there other tennis players in your family?
My dad also plays tennis, but only as a hobby.

In which club do you train tennis?
I currently play for the club I. ČLTK Praha in Prague.

Who is your tennis coach?
My coach is Lukáš Marsoun, who is my personal coach.

What is your weekly training routine?
My weekly routine depends on what I’m preparing for.
If I have a tournament coming up, I usually have one tennis training session and a cardio session on one day, and the next day I do two tennis trainings and light fitness.
If there isn’t a tournament, I usually focus more on cardio and a bit less on tennis.

As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
My greatest strength is probably my forehand—it has always been my biggest weapon.
I still need to improve my serve; it’s not bad, but I want to increase the speed and fix some technical details.

What is your junior tennis category and your national tennis ranking?
I’m not playing juniors anymore since I’m already 18, so I’m trying to play women’s tournaments now.
My best ITF junior ranking was number 32.

What has been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement so far is reaching the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.

In which countries have you already participated in tennis tournaments?
I’ve already played in so many countries that I don’t even remember all of them.

Do you have any sponsors?
My sponsor is Yonex for rackets and equipment, but I don’t currently have a clothing sponsor.

What is your goal for 2026?
My goal for 2026 is to reach the top 200 in the women’s rankings.

What is your tennis dream?
My dream, of course, is to play in the women’s Grand Slams and maybe win one someday.

Who are your favorite tennis players?
My favourite tennis players are Elena Rybakina — people often tell me I look like her, and I love her style of play — and definitely Carlos Alcaraz.

What do you like to do outside of tennis?
Outside of tennis, I like spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy going on trips and doing fun activities with them.

To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?
I would like to dedicate this interview to my coach (Lukáš Marsoun) because he is amazing — he has been with me through the best moments and has always supported me during the tougher times.
I also want to dedicate it to my family and to people who are struggling right now. I’ve been there, and I just want to say: keep going. There are so many great things ahead of you. After the darkness, the sun always comes out again.

Thanks a lot Sarah!
