Hello, introduce yourself please.
Hey! My name is Danica Fernando, I’m 19 years old, born on 16th September 2006.
I’m from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

What languages ​​do you speak?
I can speak English, Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil, and I also know a little bit of French, Spanish, and German.

At what age did you start playing tennis?
I started playing tennis at the age of 8.

Are there other tennis players in your family?
I’m the only tennis player in my family.

In which club do you train tennis?
I train at RPTA, Solaris Club, Pune.

Who is your tennis coach?
My coaches are Pandey Sir, Jayesh Sir, and Shourav Sir.

What is your weekly training routine?
I usually train twice a day — from 9–11am and 2–4pm.

As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?
I love playing aggressively on court, as it pushes me to fight for every single point.

What is your junior tennis category and your national tennis ranking?
In the U18 Juniors, I was ranked India #7 and state of Maharashtra #1.
Currently, in the Women’s category, I’m ranked India #40 and state of Maharashtra #6.

What has been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievements so far are winning the ITF Bronze Medal in Malaysia and the Silver Medal at the 57th National School Games.

In which countries have you already participated in tennis tournaments?
I’ve had the opportunity to compete in UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia.

Do you have any sponsors?
I’m proudly sponsored by HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum) and I’m also a Khelo India athlete.

What is your goal for 2026?
I have big goals for 2026 and I’m working hard to achieve them.

What is your tennis dream?
My ultimate dream is to play and win Grand Slams.

Who are your favorite tennis players?
My tennis inspirations are Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic.

What do you like to do outside of tennis?
Off the court, I love to sing and dance.

To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?
My biggest pillars of strength are my family and my team.
