Hello, introduce yourself please.My name is Laziza Talipova. I am 18 years old, born on August 3, 2007. I am an American from Orlando, Florida, USA.
What languages do you speak?I speak English, Spanish, Russian, and Uzbek.
At what age did you start playing tennis?I started to play tennis when I was 5 years old! But I started to take it seriously when I was 11.
Are there other tennis players in your family?My father, Nodirbek Talipov, played NCAA Division 3 college tennis at the University of Dubuque.
My brother, Jasur Talipov, also used to play tennis for fun.In which club do you train?I play Division 1 women’s college tennis at the George Washington University.
Who are your coaches?On the GW Women’s tennis team: Coach Jackie Calla and Coach Stella Wiesemann.
My coach in Orlando Florida is Coach Francesca Di Lorenzo.What is your weekly training routine?As a team, we train six times a week. Two hours of tennis and then an hour of lift or conditioning.
As an athlete, what is your greatest quality and what do you need to improve?As an athlete, my greatest quality is being a strong teammate. I work hard every day, support the people around me, and keep a positive mental attitude even during tough moments. I always try to bring good energy and give my best effort. At the same time, I know there is always room to improve. I can keep getting better in all areas: physically, mentally, and technically. I stay grounded by knowing I can always learn more and grow as both an athlete and a teammate.
What is your junior category and your national ranking?Because of college tennis, I don’t compete in the juniors anymore.
What has been your greatest achievement?My greatest achievement has been earning the opportunity to play Division I college tennis. Along the way, I have also been proud to win an international tournament in Germany, be featured on the news as Athlete of the Week, and win the 105th American Tennis Association National Championships in Girls’ 16s
In which countries have you already played tournament?USA, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Germany.

What is your goal for 2026?My goal for 2026 is to do the best I can in college tennis while also staying focused on my studies. I want to keep improving as a player, work hard every day, and compete at a high level. I also hope to win college tournaments while growing as both a student and an athlete.
What is your tennis dream?My tennis dream is to compete professionally, improve every day, and see how far my hard work can take me.
Who are your favorite tennis players?My favorite tennis players are Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova because of their strong work ethic, mental toughness, and competitive mindset on the court.
What do you like to do outside of tennis?Outside of tennis, I enjoy reading, writing, and working on journalism/law related projects.
To which people would you like to dedicate this interview?I would dedicate this interview to my parents and my family, along with everyone who has supported me along the way.
